There are probably tens of thousands of women in the world who wouldn't mind stepping into the shoes of Michelle Obama — but what do you fantasize about when you've already done the White House thing? The first lady told People magazine that if she could switch places with anyone, it would be Beyoncé.
From Essence:
"Gosh. If I had some gift, I'd be Beyoncé," she said. "I'd be some great singer. The power of music, being able to play an instrument … it looks like musicians just have the most fun." And speaking of music, Mrs. Obama shared that her husband serenades her all the time. “Sometimes I can’t get him to stop singing,” she said of the President.
It's no secret that Mrs. Obama and Beyoncé are pals. Beyoncé recently penned a letter to the First Lady thanking her for being a shining example of Black women everywhere.
"She is a caring mother, she's a loving wife, while at the the same time, she is the First Lady," wrote Beyoncé, who's currently prepping for this weekend's quad of concerts in Atlantic City. "Thank you so much for every single thing that you do for us. I am proud to have my daughter grow up in a world where she has people like you to look up to."
Do we think she and the president have already agreed upon a joint "if you could be anyone else" scenario in which he's Beyoncé's husband, Jay-Z? Or might he pick one of his other musical inspirations, like Young Jeezy? The possibilities are endless, and so, it seems, are the ways the first couple reminds us that, while they may reside in the White House, they definitely don't live in a bubble.
