Our hearts have been with Michael Strahan and his family since his 19-year-old daughter Isabella was diagnosed with medulloblastoma – a cancerous tumor that develops at the base of the skull – in late 2023. But the teen just shared an encouraging update about her health on social media that is giving us all the feels.
The GMA co-host and his daughter shared the heartbreaking news of her diagnosis with Robin Roberts in January. Since then, Isabella has documented her journey on her YouTube channel for nearly 42,000 subscribers.
In a July 18 video on her channel, titled “Goodbye Hospital,” Isabella, who has been receiving treatment at Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Center in Durham, North Carolina, happily announced that she is cancer-free.
“It was a great, great scan. Everything was clear. Cancer-free,” Strahan told her followers after reviewing the results of a final MRI with her medical team. “Everything is great. I don’t have another doctor’s appointment until October.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, medulloblastoma is the most common cancerous brain tumor in children. Although it can be diagnosed at any age, it’s most commonly found in young children ages 5 to 9.
Isabella Strahan has shared the highs and lows of her road to recovery on YouTube from brain surgeries and chemo treatments to a cool surprise visit from Fat Joe and her “favorite person ever,” Bryson Tiller.
But while she’s overjoyed about her cancer-free diagnosis and the opportunity to go back and continue her studies at the University of Southern California, Strahan is already feeling a little sentimental about leaving her amazing medical team in North Carolina.
“I miss my doctors already and everyone who’s helped me because they’re all so nice,” she said in her video post.
