(The Root) — British soul crooner Michael Kiwanuka has garnered quite a following with his throwback tunes and melodic vocals, and after the release of two EPs in 2011, Kiwanuka is finally hitting the main stage with his debut studio album, Home Again.

While Home Again has been available in the United Kingdom as well as in digital format worldwide for some time now, the album is getting the full CD treatment stateside with its U.S. release earlier this month. Reminiscent of the music of Bill Withers and Stax's Otis Redding, Kiwanuka's raw sound delivers depth and complexity with a tinge of feel-good throughout the album's nine tracks.

Kiwanuka's Home Again is available at music retailers and online. Catch him live in various cities including New York, Boston and Los Angeles this year.
