During an interview with Rap Radar (NSFW), rapper N.O.R.E. (born Victor Santiago Jr.) of Queens, N.Y.'s LeFrak City (big up!) said that Michael Jordan once said "F—k rap" at a Christmas party hosted by Def Jam, the iconic music label that reigned supreme in the 1990s.
"Jordan is a hater of hip-hop," N.O.R.E. said, smiling. "He only likes Hov."
"I seen 'im shut Redman down," he continued.
N.O.R.E. said that Jordan would only speak to Jay Z and essentially snubbed the other artists at the event.
A rep for Jordan is denying the account and said that Jordan wasn't even at the party, TMZ reports.
"M.J. wasn’t at this party, doesn’t know N.O.R.E. and is a fan of all music," Estee Portnoy said.
"Drake is in his brand, and Nelly is a partner of his with the Charlotte Hornets," she continued.
N.O.R.E.'s account of Jordan's relationship with hip-hop artists is fairly consistent with the narrative that Jordan isn't exactly friendly with his hip-hop supporters. Remember that Chamillionaire was utterly disappointed when he met Jordan, his childhood icon, and couldn't believe how cold the basketball legend acted toward him.
