How much would you pay for a tangible piece of the life of the late King of Pop? Given his many loving and dedicated fans, we're not surprised by the Associated Press report that furniture and other items from his home (from original works of art to napkin rings to a tissue-box cover) sold at auction for nearly $1 million this weekend.
The items were all from the Los Angeles home where Jackson died in June 2009.
An armoire where Jackson had written a message, presumably about his comeback tour, “TRAIN, perfection, March April. FULL OUT May," went for $18,750.
The Washington Post reports that the only item with higher final price tags than the armoire where paintings by Adelsteen Normann ($46,875), Carl Johan Neumann ($40,625), Maurice Utrillo ($34,375) and Henri Emilien Rousseau ($23,750).
A smaller but more sentimental item — a rooster-shaped chalkboard on which Jackson's children wrote, "I (heart) Daddy. SMILE, it's for free," sold for $5,000.
