Michael Jackson fans around the world are rejoicing in the fact that his new single, “Love Never Felt So Good,” has finally been released. But it’s not exactly “new.” The song was written, recorded and produced in 1983 with Paul Anka, but has been updated to fit present music trends, according to an Epic Records news release.
The song has “a magic combination of the new and the original production that retains the track’s analog, early ’80s feel, while also sounding right at home with the disco-soul inflected music of today,” the label said.
“Love Never Felt So Good” comes in two versions, one that includes a duet with Justin Timberlake and the version with Jackson singing solo. Timberlake tweeted the duet version early this morning to his millions of followers:
“Love Never Felt So Good” is just one of eight new tracks that have been updated musically and appear on the forthcoming album Xscape. Timbaland is the lead producer, with contributions from Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon and McClain, the release said.
