The National Organization for Marriage, a right-wing group, supports this proposed amendment and worked to encourage a split between African Americans and their black and gay counterparts surrounding this civil rights bill in North Carolina with the help of local groups like Vote for Marriage NC. However, North Carolina’s numerous NAACP chapters aren’t falling in line as NOM would have hoped.
