Comedians love to laugh, even if it means laughing at themselves. That is why funnyman Steve Harvey posted “Merry Easter y’all!” on his social media pages Christmas morning.

The holiday jumble was a lighthearted attempt to make fun of his devastating blunder last week of crowning Miss Colombia as Miss Universe. Miss Philippines was the actual winner.

The Christmas Day post shows Harvey flashing a peace sign while standing next to a pond and puffing on a cigar.

Facebook fans soaked up the quip, congratulating Harvey on the ability to make fun of himself. His post garnered over 2.3 million likes and 93 comments. It also won more than 200,000 retweets.

“Finally a celeb figures out how to win the Internet!” wrote one commenter. “Merry Easter to you too Steve!”

But Harvey did take the mistake seriously, apologizing immediately to contestants during the pageant and afterward on social media. Harvey reportedly has a multiyear deal to host future Miss Universe pageants.
