Melania Trump’s MLK Tweet Proves That She Is As Delusional as Her Deplorable Husband

I’ve always believed that Melania Trump was in an arranged marriage. And by “arranged,” I mean that she arranges times in which she is forced to watch her giant ball of old earwax devour a bucket of Original Recipe. Or arranges public appearances or official cutoff times for the contractual presidential coupling.

Melania Trump doesn’t strike me as the type of person who keeps up with her husband. I honestly believe that there is a person in the White House whose job it is to spin the president’s policy and rhetoric so that Melania actually believes the stupid shit she tweets. On Monday, the observed day of the birth of America’s most prominent civil rights icon—a day when other presidents have spent their days giving back, and her dumbass husband was playing golf— Melania had the audacity to tweet that the U.S. is currently striving for “equality and justice for all.”

“Today we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. & his service to this great country. I am honored to be First Lady of a nation that continually strives for equality & justice for all. # MLKDay,” she wrote on Monday.

Yep, just days after her husband—who has been a KFC-greased hot rod for racist commentary—called several black and brown countries shitholes, she tweeted that with the wide-eyed fanaticism of a young Simba before his father’s death.

OK, I’m kidding; Melania’s ass has always been trash, and she knows that her husband ain’t shit.

But what is actually perplexing about this administration, its supporters and the talking heads on Fake News Fox News is that its members quadruple down on their racism, only to try to act as if they aren’t, in fact, racist. While Donald Trump’s lazy ass was golfing, the White House issued a statement celebrating Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy: “Dr. King’s dream is our dream. It is the American Dream. It’s the promise stitched into the fabric of our Nation, etched into the hearts of our people, and written into the soul of humankind.”

The president also said of King’s dream, Newsweek reports: “It is the dream of a world where people are judged by who they are, not how they look or where they come from. It is the dream of a nation that offers a life of dignity and hope to every American regardless or color or creed.”

Why even send the tweet or issue a statement in the first place, when everything coming out of this administration has been contradictory? You don’t care about King’s service to this country, especially considering that the previous president, who has been a disciple of King’s legacy, has served as Donald Trump’s template for what not to do. Donald has spent his first year in office undoing Barack Obama’s legacy, while casually emboldening white supremacy and white nationalism.

Melania married the man, so she gets no slack. She knew who he was before he took office, and I know it’s early in the day, but she’s seen him naked. She’s the woman behind the man who wants to end the world as we know it, and you don’t get to shy away from that now.

King was shot down fighting to end everything that the White House now represents, so I say this with all due respect: Keep the good reverend’s name out of your mouth and off your complicit fingers.
