Meghan Markle may have a handful of fans and supporters who are itching to tune into her upcoming Netflix show—but Meghan McCain is clearly not one of them.
She made that clear in a post to X/Twitter on Thursday in which she expressed that while she was initially a supporter of Markle, her forthcoming show “With Love, Meghan,” is too “out of touch” and ill-advised given the current state of the world.
“I was originally a Meghan Markle supporter, I thought she was cool, stylish and refreshing. Like the rest of the world my opinion changed when she disrespected the royal family,” McCain began. “Now that she wants to be American again instead of British aristocracy, what she seems to forget is Americans want real, raw, uncensored. All of this even in the trailer is highly curated, produced and out of touch.”
She went on to mention the recent tragic events in New Orleans, brewing wars overseas and the struggle for everyday Americans to pay for groceries as reasons why Markle’s new show reads as tone deaf. Then, in an effort to “help,” she provided an alternative show that the former “Suits” star should’ve done instead. She ended her rant by affirming people’s dislike of her and further adding that the anticipated show fails to read the room.
“This concept is ill advised. I would have told her to do a show helping bring fresh food to food deserts in low income neighborhoods. Do something to help people instead of your ego. This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment,” she concluded.
I’m sorry, but...exactly who asked McCain for her thoughts on this? Right, I thought so.
Can you imagine how miserable you have to be to get upset at someone showing others how to cook vegetables or bake a cake? The fact that this country is already experiencing so many bad things and it’s only a few days into 2025 actually proves the need for more feel-good content like the show Markle is dropping.
It could actually serve as a great distraction and a breath of fresh air from all the doom, gloom and despair of the news. Escapism through a feel-good lifestyle show could be the very thing that people need despite McCain’s complaint.
But she’s right on one thing: someone isn’t reading the room correctly. But spoiler alert: it ain’t Markle.
