It started as a joke for 15-year-old Brady Olson when he made national headlines in July after he filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission to run for president under the name "Deez Nuts."
The Wallingford, Iowa, teen never expected the attention he has received. Uncovering the mastermind behind the moniker had become a hunt for journalists, with Brady's parents telling news station KTIV that shortly after his identity was discovered, their voice mails were filled with interview requests.
Turns out it was Brady's younger brother who gave him the idea of using the punch line to a long-standing joke that has become popular again since Internet sensation Welven da Great's video version went viral. Brady told KTIV that he filed under the name on July 26, having grown tired of America's two-party system.
"Hopefully it paves the way for more, like, than just a two-party system," Brady told the news station. "Canada had [a] debate for their prime minister elections and they used a four-party debate."
And while Brady is clear that he can't actually run for president for another 20 years, that hasn't stopped the Iowa teen from thinking about what plans he would implement if he were president.
