Martin Luther King Jr. Day may be a national holiday, but it’s arguably an even more special day for Meagan Good and her fiancé Jonathan Majors given his previous comments about the nature of their relationship. And now Good is backing him up—but don’t worry, we’ll explain.
You see, as we previously told you, one of the more eyebrow-raising revelations that came out during Majors’ domestic dispute trial was when the jury listened to audio recorded by ex-girlfriend/accuser Grace Jabbari in which he described himself as a “great man” who needed a partner who was supportive and “lived up to the standards of Coretta Scott King and Michelle Obama.”
When asked to clarify those statements in a later interview with ABC after he’d been found guilty of misdemeanor reckless assault, Majors told the outlet that he was trying “to motivate, to enlighten, to give perspective as in to what it is I was hoping to get out of the relationship.” He then also said that Good “held me down like a Coretta” and gushed over his new romance.
Fast forward to Jan. 2025, and now Good is addressing those comments in a her latest interview with Charlamagne Tha God on “The Breakfast Club.” When asked if Majors asked her to be his Coretta when he proposed, Good handled the jab gracefully, explaining:
“He didn’t say that, but I am his Coretta, though. We were thinking about [dressing as them] for Halloween. We already had those costumes from [2023] but the strike...We wanted to respect [SAG-AFTRA’s request of] not dressing up as characters.”
Later, when cohost Jess Hilarious asked if Good ever felt overwhelmed in her relationship, specifically during Majors’ widely-talked about trial, the “Harlem” star said no and echoed prior sentiments about this being the happiest she’s ever been in a relationship.
“I was talking to God and I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I’ve learned along the way that not only will things not always make sense to me, but sometimes they won’t make sense to other people — and that’s okay,” she said. “As long as you are in alignment with God and you’re trusting the path that you’re on, that’s it. And the more that I’ve done that, the happier I’ve been. I don’t know when I’ve been this happy before. I think I might have been a kid when I was this happy before.”
Oh, just to refresh you memories: Good and Majors announced their engagement back in Nov. 2024.
