The Essence Music Festival wasn't the only hot ticket item in New Orleans this past weekend. McDonald's held its 7th Annual 365Black Awards at New Orleans' Ernest N. Morial Convention Center on July 2. CNN contributor Roland Martin hosted the red carpet and captured candid and entertaining interviews from this year's honorees, including actress-philanthropist Holly Robinson Peete, Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., actress Victoria Rowell, radio host Tom Joyner and activist Al Sharpton. Other honorees included Lieutenant General Russel L. Honoré, U.S. Army (Ret), philanthropist Rodney Peete (Holly Robinson Peete) and National Black McDonald's Operators Association CEO Rita Mack, a New-Jersey-based McDonald’s owner-operator.
