Mary J. Blige had a few words about President HWSRN at a Sundance press junket for her upcoming film Mudbound.
Early on in the election, Blige made it clear that she was with Hillary Clinton and even broke out into Bruce Springsteen’s song “American Skin (41 Shots)” in front of Clinton during the Democratic candidate’s appearance on Blige’s Apple Music talk show.
But now, at the mere mention of President Human Boil, Blige can’t hold back her emotions.
“I just really can’t support this. It is what it is. He speaks about women viciously. Just racist,” Blige said.
Blige does see a glimmer of hope when it comes to the next four years, and although the world is clearly divided when it comes to those who want to MAGA and those who want to punch Trump and his fellow Nazis in the face, she hopes that people will come together to defeat the hate he’s spreading.
“My hopes are that this brings us together as people. As people period. Not as a ‘people.’ Not as black people. And understand that’s going to make everything change, is that we love each other,” Blige continued. “I hope that it brings us all together and helps uplift us rather than break us.”
Here’s to wishful thinking.
