Who is Marsha Elle? She’s a singer-songwriter, model, speaker and amputee. She’s also the latest to go trending on Instagram and Twitter—circling the internet not only because of her beautiful voice but also because she’s using her platform to encourage and set an example for other amputees, joining a growing segment of differently abled talents making an impact on the worlds of music and fashion.
Elle has been an above-the-knee amputee all her life, born with proximal femoral focal deficiency. PFFD is a rare, nonhereditary birth defect that causes one leg to be shorter than the other.
Elle was nervous about how the world would perceive her, but she hasn’t let that affect her goals of portraying a music career. “In a world where public image is everything, I had my doubts,” Elle says on her website. Defying conventional beauty standards, she isn’t afraid to show off her curves or prosthetic leg on the ’gram.
Here are the pictures to prove it:
Marsha is killin’ the ’gram; I’d love to see her on the cover of a magazine next.
