Jesus may have turned water into wine, but leave it to Mariah Carey to flip cups of tea into cash.
For the second year in a row, Carey, the living Queen of Christmas Music, delivered a memorable and meme-able New Year’s Eve performance, demanding tea during a live performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest.
If you need a refresher:
“I just want to take a sip of tea if they’ll let me. They told me there would be tea,” Carey said, dressed like a sexy alpaca, looking around at her band like old boy was just going to brandish a cup from behind his drum set.
“Oh! It’s a disaster,” Carey continued. “We’ll just have to rough it.”
The next day, Carey apparently “found her tea” on Instagram:
Now Carey is cashing in on her love for chamomile with a new line of “tea-shirts” that let you channel the pop diva’s love for drama.
The shirts, which feature the phrases, “I was told there would be tea” and “#FoundMyTea,” run $30 apiece and can be bought at her official web store. Finally, a T-shirt that captures the feeling when you eavesdrop on your co-workers and the gossip isn’t as juicy as you’d hoped.
If message tees aren’t your flavor, there’s also a black “I Was Told There Would Be Tea” mug available for $20.
