Civil rights organizations file housing-discrimination complaint against U.S. Bank: Last week the National Fair Housing Alliance brought a formal complaint to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development alleging that Wells Fargo had violated the Fair Housing Act. On April 16 the NFHA and four of its member organizations announced that they will also file a federal housing-discrimination complaint against U.S. Bancorp and U.S. Bank National Bank Association. U.S. Bank is the fifth-largest commercial bank in the United States. The complaints are the result of an undercover investigation into how major American banks are failing to maintain and market REO (real estate owned) properties in African-American and Latino neighborhoods nationwide.
