Sometimes at The Root we have to bring you stories that make you go hmmmm. This is one of them. Christopher Kaiser, 29, of Charlotte, N.C., was killed by a real train while hunting for a ghost train. No, we're not making this up. Kaiser and three other people, one of whom was his girlfriend, went out to find a ghost train at the center of local folklore. The group was on an isolated bridge waiting to see and hear ghosts from a previous train wreck at the same bridge on Aug. 27, 1891. Instead of a ghost train, a real train came through, killing Kaiser, who pushed his girlfriend to safety. We guess that clears up the legend of the ghost train.
