According to the Nation News, 23-year-old Shawayne Dashawn Williams was charged with murder in the death of Alleyne during his first court appearance Wednesday. Williams was remanded to prison and will next appear before court on Jan. 31.

Alleyne was walking near his home around 7 p.m. on Dec. 26 when he was approached by a man who shot him several times before fleeing the scene, authorities said. Alleyne was rushed to the hospital before dying of his injuries.

Rihanna posted about his death, calling for an end to gun violence.
