The first family's elder daughter, Malia Obama, seems to be enjoying her time in Cuba, although apparently she's still studying very hard … with her Spanish, at the very least.

It appears as if Malia Obama has picked up the role of her dad's interpreter for the family's historic trip to the Spanish-speaking island, if chief official White House photographer Pete Souza's photo is anything to go by.

Monday on Instagram, Souza shared one particularly happy shot of President Barack Obama and Malia grinning at an unidentified person. Souza captioned the photo, "The President and Malia share a laugh as Malia translates Spanish to English for her dad at a restaurant in Old Havana."

Souza has been sharing a good chunk of the trip—from the anticipation of the landing in Havana to the cuisine and people, the president's bilateral meeting with Cuban President Raúl Castro, and the first lady and first daughters checking out historical sites—on his Instagram.
