Here’s a consensus: Kendrick Lamar's debut album, good kid, M.A.A.d. City, was the best rap album recorded last year. Another popular opinion: Macklemore is kinda cheesy. So of course, people weren't happy when Macklemore's The Heist beat out Lamar's freshman effort for best rap album at last night's Grammy Awards show. (Macklemore won four Grammys last night. Lamar won none, despite his seven nominations.)
And then Macklemore went ahead and did this:
That is a text message he sent to Kendrick Lamar, which he then screen-capped and posted on Instagram. In it he apologizes for winning and says the music started playing before he could publicly acknowledge this snub on the Grammy stage. So many things, Macklemore:
