It's official: The force will be with Lupita Nyong’o in 2015. The Academy Award-winning actress is joining the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.
The official announcement came earlier on Monday from StarWars.com. The 12 Years a Slave actress will also be joined by British actress Gwendoline Christie, currently starring in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones as Brienne of Tarth.
"I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII," said Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy in a statement. "It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape."
Information regarding their characters was not released. The movie is due to open worldwide Dec. 18, 2015.
