Black fans of the sci-fi movie genre are rejoicing after hearing news that Lupita Nyong’o and Ava DuVernay are in talks to join Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment film Intelligent Life.
Academy Award winner Nyong’o is in talks to star in the film, with DuVernay at the director’s helm, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Intelligent Life follows the story of a U.N. worker in a department created to represent humankind in the event of alien contact. The man falls in love with a mysterious woman who turns out to be an alien, and Nyong’o will play the woman at the center of the alien contact. The film is slated to go into production this summer, but no release date has been scheduled.
Until then, you catch Nyong’o in Disney’s The Jungle Book, which opens April 15.
