(The Root) — Everyone knows by now that rapper Lupe Fiasco is not afraid to speak his mind, but apparently he made his management nervous on Twitter last night. After a debate with fellow rapper Talib Kweli about violence in rap music, Lupe ventured into a discussion about Marxism with a few folks on Twitter, prompting his PR team to step in.

After a hiatus, his handlers again took to his Twitter account to (confusingly) refute the rumors that Lupe had been kicked off Twitter for tweeting about Marxism, insisting instead that his account was taken over to allow Lupe time to "focus on other projects." Lupe also (supposedly) sent a tweet from the account denying that he'd been kicked off Twitter because of the conversation.

Lupe Fiasco is no stranger to being silenced for his controversial views. He was kicked offstage in January while performing an anti-Obama song at an inaugural concert, of all places.
