Every basketball fan has fantasized about it at one time or another, but imagine what would happen if you were the lucky person who hit that half-court shot on your team’s home court to win a big, fat check for $100,000.
Suni Strong of Lancaster, Calif., doesn’t have to wonder any longer after he completed that amazing feat Sunday afternoon at the Staples Center. He told NBC Los Angeles that he knew he’d be a winner as soon as he walked into the arena.
Moments after making his $100,000 shot, Strong said, “When [the Lakers’ employee] came up to me, when I first walked in, I said, ‘Have my check ready.’ I knew I was going to make it. I had to.”
The 27-year-old works for SpaceX and also earns a living as a bounty hunter. He told NBC that he played basketball in high school as well as on the open courts of local parks, but that he’s been out of practice for a while.
“Man, I’ve been building rockets, so I haven’t had a chance to get to the courts,” Strong said.
He wasn’t too out of practice to hit that basket, though. Kudos to him.
