Russell Crowe will not be prosecuted in the wake of rapper Azealia Banks’ accusation that he assaulted her and kicked her out of his hotel room during an intimate dinner party in October, Yahoo! Celebrity reports.
Banks filed a police report around 3 a.m. Oct. 16 with the Beverly Hills, Calif., Police Department following the dinner party.
On Tuesday the district attorney declined to prosecute Crowe.
A spokesperson for the office said, "The DA’s office declined to file charges due to lack of sufficient evidence."
According to Yahoo! Celebrity, Banks was one of 10 guests joining Crowe for a private gathering in the Beverly Hills Hotel on Oct. 15. Banks claimed that she was "spat on, choked, thrown out of a room" and called the n-word.
Yahoo! Celebrity reports that documents obtained from the court indicate that several attendees say that Banks was the assaultive person, not Crowe.
Banks was rapper RZA's plus one that night, and his response to the incident also corresponded with the court documents.
"Before the night is over Azealia is insulting half the room she becomes loud and obnoxious," wrote RZA in a post. "Azealia threatened to cut a girl in the face with a glass, then actually grabs a glass and physically attacks for no logical reason. Russell blocked the attack and expelled her from the suite."
Neither party is a stranger to unfortunate situations, since Banks and Crowe have both found themselves in separate controversies in the past.
