We all have that one person from our past whom we probably consider a “soul mate.” That one person you thought you were meant to be with. The one person with whom you thought you shared a bond tighter than superglue. That one person who verbally and physically abused you so bad that you went and changed your face. Wait, that’s not you—that’s Lil’ Kim.

Lil’ Kim recently appeared on an episode of Hollywood Medium with celebrity psychic Tyler Henry, who put her back in “touch” with her soul mate, the Notorious B.I.G., also known as “Biggie.”

In the clip, Henry references the fact that he’s in touch with someone who feels that their legacy is living on through Kim’s music. Henry also references a tribute to Biggie, which Kim confirms is happening.

But here’s the thing: Kim has repeatedly spoken out about the mental and physical abuse she suffered at the hands of Biggie and with scores of other men she’s been involved with. She’s spoken about how these men in her life ridiculed her and caused self-esteem issues.

“All my life, men have told me I wasn’t pretty enough—even the men I was dating. And I’d be like, ‘Well, why are you with me, then?’ It’s always been men putting me down just like my dad. To this day when someone says I’m cute, I can’t see it. I don’t see it no matter what anybody says,” Kim said in a 2000 interview with Newsweek.

Over the last several years, Kim’s features have morphed into a totally different face. Gone is her brown skin, replaced with a hue that doesn’t seem humanlike. Her nose and other facial features have gone under so much reconstruction that it’s quite possible her so-called soul mate wouldn’t even recognize her anymore.

I wish someone would pull Kim to the side and tell her she was always beautiful, and her soul mate (and plastic surgeon) was a trash human for making her think less of herself.
