Rapper Lil Boosie says he has a new outlook on life after recovering from surgery that removed half of one kidney. This past November, the rapper was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and he reached out to his fans for prayers. Now, just one month after his surgery, he’s speaking out, not only about his diagnosis, but also about his desire to keep making music.

In an interview with Revolt, Boosie discussed how he first found out about the cancer.

“Man, I got an MRI, that motherf—ker came back like, ‘We found something on your kidney. You know you got cancer,’” Boosie said. “And that’s when they told me. That was the first time I found that out.”

Since the diagnosis and surgery, Boosie hasn’t turned his back to music. In fact, he recently released a new album, In My Feelings (Goin’ Thru It). He says making music has kept him in good spirits and helped him to conquer adversity.

In the end, he’s still looking for prayers and appreciates the prayers he’s received from fans.

“I know I got a million fans, I’ll get a million prayers. Whatever helps,” he said.
