Lil Baby is the latest rapper to find himself in legal hot water. According to TMZ, the artist born Dominique Jones was arrested in Las Vegas on Monday for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. TMZ reports he was allegedly caught on video at a nightclub “being passed a gun.” After a police investigation, he was booked into Clark County Detention Center on $5,000 bail.
“To be clear, Dominique Jones has a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit,” Jones’ lawyers, Drew Findling and David Chesnoff, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday. “On his behalf we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”
Per Georgia’s Department of Public Safety, Nevada is not one of the states that Georgia shares reciprocity privileges with when it comes to firearms licenses.
According to Billboard, Lil Baby previously found himself in legal trouble in France in 2021. While attending Paris Fashion Week, he was cited for allegedly transporting drugs. He was temporarily detained, but was released and ordered to pay a fine.
While Lil Baby deals with his legal problems, his fans seem more interested in the possibility of new music. Over the weekend, he hopped on Instagram to let everyone know “Album 80 [percent] Done.” The replies were impatient, yet enthusiastic.
One person cautioned the rapper about expectations, writing, “Ok ima be patient… but you know we waiting so this shit betta be NO SKIPS.”
Another fan seems good with what’s already completed. “Just drop the 80 the rest of the 20 can drop as singles later.”
Someone else didn’t appreciate this partial update, writing, “You needa be posting when it’s 100 [percent] done tf is 80 [percent]?”
Now these fans are left to wonder if the rapper’s legal problems will cause a longer delay in the album’s release.
