Welcome to Washington! My name is Lauryn Collins and I am 10 years old. I attend Holy Trinity School in Bowie, Maryland, right outside of Washington D.C. My favorite hobby is dancing. I dance at C + C Dance Company. What is your favorite hobby? I also play the clarinet. Do you play an instrument? I think you will like living in Washington D.C., it's a beautiful city with a lot to do. My parents and I go to the Kennedy Center to see plays, and we go to museums. My favorite museum is called the Newseum. You can see historical newspapers and exhibits but my favorite exhibit is when you pretend to be a reporter. You can solve mysteries and play reporter games. I hope to meet you one day!
Sincerely,
Lauryn Collins

Dear Sasha and Malia,
Hi, My name is Aja. I am Nine years old, and I am in fourth grade. Some of my hobbies are playing basketball, riding my bike, reading, playing the piano, and playing on the computer. I am very happy and relieved that your dad is in the White House. I think that it has made a difference to people all around the world. Here are some things that you should know about D.C. Although there are no amusement parks, there are some other really cool places to go, such as walking up the steps to the Washington Monument, going to see 3-D movies at an I-MAX theater, and visiting the Museum of Natural History.
Some cool restaurants are Z-Burger, a really hip place to go (the newest in D.C.) sort of like a diner, and then there's Armand's, a Chicago pizzeria, and Bogeymongers, a New York Deli that serves things like subs, grilled cheese, and coleslaw. And last, but not least, there is Cactus Cantina, a Mexican restaurant that's food is out of this world!
If both of you want to see some amusement parks, there are some in Maryland, like Six Flags, and Ocean City. In Virginia there is Kings Dominion, and Hershey Park, which is an amusement park that has chocolate all over the place, and is also a water park!
If you're both into sports, or mostly bike riding, you'll probably like bike riding in Rock Creek Park. Another place is Jellef, kind of like YMCA, except it's a recreational center. If you're both into Basketball, there are basketball teams at Jellef, from four year olds to fifteen year olds. They also have a music program for talented singers and musical geniuses.
The last thing that I need to tell both of you is that the Library of Congress and National Zoo are good places to chill out, especially after Winter and Summer breaks!
Well, HAVE FUN!
Aja Johnson
