Let’s Discuss How Republicans in Congress Are Complicit in Trump’s Bullshit

There is a $1.3 trillion spending bill being worked on in Congress right now. Democrats wanted to add language to the bill that would protect special counsel Robert Mueller and keep him from being fired by the president. Although a good many of them said that they believe Mueller should be allowed to finish the job he started, Republicans in Congress did not want to add the protection language to the bill.

Go figure.

According to NPR, the Republicans don’t think Mueller needs to be protected from the president. They consider such a measure unnecessary.

On Tuesday, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told reporters: “The special counsel should be free to follow through his investigation to its completion without interference, absolutely. I am confident that he’ll be able to do that. I have received assurances that his firing is not even under consideration.”

Assurances from whom, exactly?

We are talking about the same president who had a man fired two days before he would have been eligible to collect his pension.

I am not surprised at this decision, however.

This is the same Republican Congress that has gone against everyone else in the intelligence community and claims there is no reason to believe that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians.

These are the same Republicans who think thoughts and prayers are a good substitute for commonsense gun control. The same Republicans who left 9 million children in limbo worrying about their health care insurance earlier this year.

The same Republicans who would have allowed an accused pedophile to be a senator for Alabama.

The same Republicans who refused to hold hearings for former President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court justice pick.

The same Republicans who sit idly by and say nothing as Donald Trump demonstrates time and time again that he is not fit for the presidency, he only has his own self-interests at heart, and he will fire or attempt to fire any and everyone he needs to in order to save his own skin.

Republicans control our Congress, and Republicans are allowing this circus to continue. They have the power to stop it, but they don’t want to.

So you have to wonder: What does Trump have over them? Why are they willing to go along with this? What would need to happen in order for them to take action?

Because until they do, we all know one thing for sure—they are complicit in everything he does.
