Welll, I’m gonna take my horse to the old town road, I’m gonna … house party ‘til I can’t no more?

It’s official, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that we are getting yet another remake! This time, it’s the ‘90s black-ass classic, House Party. Because Lord knows we don’t have enough of those, am I right? It’s not even like we just heard about a potential remake of a black ‘90s movie this week! Nah.

It’s also important to note that House Party 4 did, in fact, happen without Christopher “Kid” Reid and Christopher “Play” Martin starring in the lead roles and starred the young men of Immature (then going by IMx) instead. That happened.

Yet, here we are.

The House Party remake is already boasting someone trendy for the new generation of audience, signing on “Old Town Road (Remix)” music video director Calmatic to helm the upcoming project. Before taking on Lil Nas X’s hit song, he worked with artists such as Anderson .Paak and Khalid.

THR further reports:

LeBron James is producing with his SpringHill Entertainment partner Maverick Carter.

Written and directed by Reginald Hudlin, House Party starred the hip-hop duo Kid ‘n Play and told of their hijinks as they attempted to throw the party of the year.

Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori from FX’s Atlanta wrote the new script.

Spencer Beighley and Jamal Henderson are overseeing the project for SpringHill.

Given the writers, I’m expecting some Atlanta-esque humor. No word yet on whether the OGs Kid ‘n Play will make a cameo in this remake (or play a substantial part), but it would only make sense that they do.
