On Wednesday, reality star and resident internet Karen Bethenny Frankel took to Instagram to share her thoughts on why Vice President Kamala Harris lost the presidential election.
The fact that nobody asked Frankel didn’t stop her from giving her opinion. The former New York Housewife stated that all of Harris’ celebrity endorsements had no real value.
“This was the most divisive election that I can recall in my lifetime, the stakes felt so high on both sides, people couldn’t have an opinion,” the “Real Housewives of New York City” star said as she began her commentary.
“It’s been like that for a while, but it felt more crystallized here...You couldn’t say either candidate didn’t do something you didn’t like… something that wasn’t a good business practice.”
It wasn’t long before Frankel critiqued Harris’s use of celebrities to gain support.
“I genuinely did not think that aligning with celebrities is and was a good idea,” she said.
“I don’t think that the American public, by in large, cares about whose hobnobbing with celebrities. I think that it’s the forbidden fruit. It’s so tempting … it’s the shiny object and I don’t think it’s a working model.”
The SkinnyGirl founder did admit, however, that both sides made mistakes. Despite celebs like Kid Rock, Hulk Hogan and Dr. Phil endorsing Trump, Frankel set her sights sharply on Harris.
She noted that despite Harris having endorsements from stars, it wasn’t enough to “move the needle” in a significant way for Dems.
“That means [celebrity endorsements are] a spinning wheel, it’s useless, it’s a flex and it doesn’t even do anything,” Frankel stated.
Some of Harris’ biggest endorsements came from Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Taylor Swift, Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé. Last month, the “Cowboy Carter” artist made a moving speech at Harris’ Houston campaign rally and encouraged Americans to vote.
