NFL Pro Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested in Palm Beach, Fla., on Friday afternoon and charged with driving under the influence.
The former New York Giants linebacker was driving a 2010 Bentley on the Florida Turnpike when he allegedly hit a mobile home and sideswiped a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle. He was arrested after failing three field sobriety tests.
Taylor was brought to Wellington Regional Medical Center after initially complaining of wanting to throw up, and then taken to Palm Beach County jail.
Taylor was released on his own recognizance and ordered to appear in Palm Beach County Court on Sept. 28.
The damage to the cruiser was minimal, according to police sources.
The two-time Super Bowl champ has had some sobriety issues in the past. He was suspended twice in his 13-year NFL career for substance abuse. He also spoke candidly about his cocaine addiction in his 2004 autobiography, LT: Over the Edge.
CNN reports that in 2011, Taylor pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct with a teenage girl and was sentenced to six years’ probation.
