One of the more likable stars of the second season of Netflix’s Last Chance U, a series that looks at junior college football players trying to get their lives back on track, will have his murder case heard by a grand jury later this month.
Isaiah Wright, the talented running back plagued by injuries at East Mississippi Community College, was arrested along with three other men in September for the stabbing death of 18-year-old Caleb Radford, TMZ Sports reports.
Wright, 20, who fielded offers from Auburn and West Virginia universities before signing with the Division II University of West Georgia, was with his brother, former Indiana wide receiver Camion Patrick, 22, and friends Keshawn Lonnell Hopewell, 21, and Itiq Tivone Green, 28, when the incident occurred.
Other than noting that Radford was killed in Tennessee in July, little has been reported on the events that led to the teen’s death. During the second season of Last Chance U, Wright spoke extensively about his troubled upbringing and his volatile temper. He often clashed with EMCC coach Buddy Stephens and became inconsolable when learning that an injury would keep him off the field.
Charges against Patrick have been dropped, but a grand jury will hear evidence Jan. 12 to decide if there is enough evidence for an indictment against the other three men.
