Lamar Odom's life took a turn for the worse in October when the former NBA star ended up in a coma after an alleged drug overdose. Odom, who was staying at a Nevada brothel at the time, was allegedly using cocaine and herbal Viagra when he was found unconscious at Dennis Hof's Love Ranch South.
During his hospitalization, media reported that Odom suffered a series of strokes and barely recognized family members. While he was in the hospital, Nevada officials contemplated bringing felony drug charges against Odom. But they've now decided not to, according to NBC News.
"Although the evidence showed Mr. Odom had metabolized cocaine in his system," the Nye County, Nev., district attorney said in a statement, "he was not found in the possession of cocaine and it is unlikely it could [be] established beyond a reasonable doubt he actually ingested, or was impaired by, the drug during the time he was within the jurisdiction of Nye County."
Odom took another step in the road to recovery last week when he was released from the hospital; he is now at a rehab facility.
"It is with extreme gratitude and appreciation to all of you around the world who have prayed without ceasing for Lamar, that we announce his transition to the next stage of his miraculous recovery at a new facility," a family spokeswoman, Alvina Alston, said in a statement. "Lamar continues to make remarkable strides."
