Former NBA star and ex-reality-TV husband Lamar Odom, 34, has agreed to a short-term deal with Spanish basketball club Baskonia, the Associated Press reports. Odom, a two-time NBA champion with the Lakers who has also played for the Dallas Mavericks, the Miami Heat and most recently the Los Angeles Clippers, hasn't played since the end of last season.

Rumors of drug and alcohol abuse have surrounded Odom since he left the Clippers. Odom was married to reality star Khloe Kardashian and made regular appearances on the television show Keeping Up With the Kardashians. This past season, however, Odom was rarely on camera, and the few times his voice could be heard, he was incoherent or slurring his words. A bizarre video of Odom and a friend freestyling in a bathroom surfaced online, and later in the summer he was arrested for drunken driving. Odom and Kardashian divorced in December 2013.

He was signed to the Spanish basketball club after an injury to a player created an empty slot on the roster. AP reports that the deal Odom is signing includes an extension option that could be picked up through the end of the season.

According to AP, Odom is expected in the Basque capital of Vitoria this week and could make his debut on Saturday.

"We're very happy to have signed a very important player who has had a long and fruitful career in the NBA," Baskonia President Josean Querejeta said in a statement. "We've worked very hard over the last couple of days to make this happen. We felt we needed a boost and had to break the collective cloud that has been hanging over us over the last while so we could get back to winning.''
