Ladies, how much unsolicited advice do you think we receive on any given day? How many intrusions, corrections, interruptions and outright dismissals do you think we contend with within a 24-hour period—so many that the vast majority don’t even register anymore? How often are we told we don’t even know our own minds or experiences, let alone our own bodies and autonomy?
One of our favorite labels, Pyer Moss, is confronting sexism and the continued disenfranchisement of women at one of its most visceral and levels—the renewed fight for reproductive rights. Per a release from the label:
“Ladies should be quiet.” “Ladies belong in the home.” Much of the advice given to women and girls doesn’t come from a place of care but one of control. Every woman should have the right to control her career, her body, and her destiny. We created a limited run of unisex “Ladies...” t-shirts as a reminder that a woman’s autonomy is important. All proceeds will go to support The Yellowhammer Fund, which provides financial support to women in Alabama seeking to exercise their right to choose.

Supporting reproductive rights with a fashion statement? Count us all the way in...and we love Pyer Moss’ message in the attendant campaign video (above), which points out exactly how condescending, controlling and downright cruel it is to treat adults as if we’re not capable of deciding what’s best for our own bodies and lives.
Pyer Moss for Yellowhammer drops on Saturday, July 27 at 10 a.m., ET. In the meantime, “ignore all advice that starts with ‘Ladies...’”
