Floyd Mayweather’s son, Koraun Mayweather, may only be 14 years old, but some may say he’s a better man than his father. Especially when you take into consideration that Koraun says he repeatedly witnessed the boxing champ beat his mother, Josie Harris.

In an eye-opening interview with USA Today, Harris allowed Koraun to explain what he witnessed on a daily basis—and what happened the night he says he saw his father beating his mother, actions that subsequently landed Mayweather in jail in 2012.

“[My dad] said to lock my door and stay in my room. I sat there and thought about what I was going to do next. Just for like a minute. So I ran and I tried to go through the front door to go to the [security] gate. But then his friend [James McNair] came through the door and blocked off the stairway for me to go through. Then I went back into my room and locked the door and then ran back out my bathroom and then hopped over the gate and went to the main entrance gate. I just told [the guard] that my mom was getting hurt and to call the ambulance and the police,” Koraun stated.

Koraun was only 10 years old when he witnessed that incident, and Harris says she’s still brought to tears when she realizes what her son had to deal with. Harris also says she still feels anxiety when she has to talk about Mayweather.

Although Mayweather is in his son’s life and sees him on the weekends, it’s clear that Koraun still holds anger toward him, regardless of his father’s recent purchase of a Bentley golf cart for him.

Koraun also says that remembering that night of the attack angers him, especially his father’s refusal to admit to his actions.

“He is a coward,” Koraun said as he ended the interview.
