The Los Angeles Lakers were in Las Vegas playing a preseason game against the Sacramento Kings when news that Lamar Odom had been hospitalized surfaced. During the game, Kobe Bryant left the arena, and some thought it was because of a possible leg injury, but according to Fox Sports, Bryant left the game to head to the hospital to be with Odom. Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak headed to the hospital after the Lakers game ended.

During the postgame press conference, Odom’s former teammate and childhood friend Metta World Peace was at a loss for words. “There’s nothing I can say. I don’t even know what to say,” he said. “There’s not one word I can say right now that would make sense.”

On social media, fellow NBA players sent out tweets in support of Odom.
