Last February, Anthony Mason died at the age of 48 after a massive heart attack. Mason, who played with the New York Knicks 1991-1996, will have a street named after him in his hometown of Queens, N.Y.
The New York City Council approved a proposal to rename a section of 147th Street between 123rd Avenue and Rockaway Boulevard “Anthony Mason Way,” according to the New York Daily News.
During his time with the Knicks, Mason won the NBA’s Sixth Man Award in 1995. He also played for the Nets, Bucks, Hornets and Nuggets.
