Over the last week, there have been numerous reports of singer and actress Kelly Rowland walking off the set of the “Today” set due to her dressing room being too small. Now, the star’s rep Yvette Noel-Schure has spoken out on her behalf.
In a statement, Noel-Schure said: “After 28 years of knowing her, Kelly Rowland remains one of the kindest, most amiable humans I have ever met and have had the blessing to represent.”
Last Thursday (Feb. 15), Rowland was scheduled to host the fourth hour of “Today” with Hoda Kotb after joining the show earlier as a guest. However, reports soon circulated that the “Motivation” songstress stormed out of the building because she was upset with the size of her dressing room (there were also speculation that Jennifer Lopez was occupying one that she wanted).
Rita Ora was also a guest on Thursday’s show and was asked last minute to be Rowland’s replacement. “Kelly and her team were not happy. They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving [Kotb] without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour,” Page Six reported.
On Tuesday’s show, Kotb jokingly addressed the drama. “I just want to say this. I have great love and admiration for Kelly Rowland. I adore her. And I want her to come back on the show... of course. She can share my dressing room. We will be in it together. Anyway, I want to say we loved her on the show for many, many, years,” Kotb said.
“And on another note, we want to give a shout-out to Rita Ora, who did a phenomenal job. We have great women on this show,” she also added. Rowland has been making the media rounds promoting the new Tyler Perry film, which is out Friday (Feb. 23) on Netflix. While stopping by Sherri Shepherd’s show, she received different treatment and even had fans in her dressing room.
She has yet to comment on the rumors.
