Kelly Rowland Is Tired of Y'all Asking About Beyoncé and Destiny's Child. And Rightfully So.

The talented singer and actress has been charting her own path for years now, so why must she always discuss something from over 20 years ago?

During a time when Kelly Rowland should be primarily focused on all things “Mea Culpa,” her new film set to release on Netflix Feb. 23, she’s unfortunately spending time once again shirking questions about Beyoncé and Destiny’s Child.

It happened once again Tuesday when she and fellow costar Trevante Rhodes showed up for an interview on “The Big Tigger Morning Show” with Jazzy McBee. After answering some questions about her movie, Big Tigger tried to switch the topic to Beyoncé and her three-act “Renaissance” era, fishing for an answer from Rowland as to whether or not Act III would be a Destiny’s Child reunion, as some have rumored online.

“That is her business to talk about,” Rowland said with a wink to Big Tigger. When co-host Jazzy Bee tried a gentler approach, the “Motivation” singer said “Just ask them. I’m here talking about ‘Mea Culpa,’ February 23rd, and that’s what I’m most excited about right now. I think that’s that. And I’m—yeah.”

Honestly, we get it Kelly...we really do. It must truly be difficult to still have to answer to something you haven’t been a part of since 2005 (especially when she just dealt with a similar conversation days prior). That’s a nearly 20 year time jump. And while the group was impactful and culturally important, their solo successes outside of just Bey are worth discussion.

Rowland is the star of her own holiday film franchise (“Merry Liddle Christmas” fans stand up!), has had her own successful music career and is a wife and mom. “Mea Culpa” is her first lead role in a thriller and she also executive produced the film. This means there’s plenty of personal, non-Beyoncé, non-Destiny’s Child material to discuss in these interviews.

Let’s stop doing her a disservice and give her the solo shine she so rightfully deserves.
