If there’s one thing we love to see, it’s Black women showing love to one another and making each other feel seen and heard. And that’s exactly what singer and actress Kelly Rowland did when she stopped by “The Sherri Show” on Friday to promote her new film, “Mea Culpa,” directed by Tyler Perry.
Although Rowland’s presence was par for the course during the New York leg of her press tour, what made this visit particularly special is that it happened after an allegedly unpleasant experience at the “TODAY” show just days prior. As previously reported by The Root, after chatting with co-host Savannah Guthrie (which some viewers said was slightly problematic), Rowland was set to co-host “Tody with Hoda and Jenna” for the following hour. Well, that didn’t end up happening thanks to an alleged game of dressing room musical chairs that ensued after, leaving Rowland and her team with such a sour taste in their mouths that left the studio completely.
According to People, “Kelly walked out because she and her team didn’t like her dressing room,” which was reportedly described as a “glorified closet in an old building.” When her team inquired about a different room upstairs, they were told that it was currently being occupied by J.Lo who was only there to shortly promote her new film.
Fast forward to Rowland’s appearance on “The Sherri Show” and it’s clear to see the “Ice” singer was in completely different, arguably more positive spirits when walking out. Those spirits ended up leading Rowland to give Shepherd her flowers and describing her show as a “light, positive space.”
“I know that this is your show, but I have to tell you: thank you for being light, positive energy in this space, in this time,” the “Merry Liddle Christmas” star said. “We needed you and I thank you so much for your light.”
When one social media user commented, “I guess her dressing room was acceptable.”
Shepherd through some slick shade at the situation, replying from her personal account. “Oh we gave her a gorgeous room!❤. It is Kelendria Rowland🔥🔥🔥,” she wrote.
