As members of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Brooklyn Nets showed their support for Eric Garner while hundreds of protesters were gathered outside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., British royalty came face to face with whom some might call American music royalty.

Kate Middleton and Prince William embarked on their first NBA game Monday night, and of course Jay Z and Beyoncé were in attendance. The sheer thought of the two couples breathing the same air sent the Internet into a whirlwind.

Will and Kate arrived at the game during the third quarter, and between the third and fourth quarters this happened:

According to USA Today, former NBA player John Amaechi arranged the whole meeting. Kathy Behrens, the league's executive vice president of social responsibility and player programs, said: "John is actually an ambassador for the Royal Foundation's Coach Core program. He said to them that he should introduce the Royal Foundation to the NBA, and let's see if we can get two great organizations together and have more of an impact. …They've been great to work with, and we're looking forward to not just obviously this event but a really long partnership."

One has to wonder, more importantly, what the royal family thought of the "I Can't Breathe" T-shirts and the protesters outside the Barclays Center.
