Many people say that Kanye West hasn’t fully processed the death of his mother, Donda West, who died of “coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative factors due to or as a consequence of liposuction and mammoplasty,” 24 hours after having those procedures done in 2007. Recently, during a Twitter tirade, West asked his followers’ opinions about using the face of the plastic surgeon who worked on his mother as his album cover. But on Monday night, the surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams, sent Kanye a cease and desist letter, along with information about his mother’s death.
According to the letter obtained by the Blast, Adams advised Kanye not to use his photo on the album, and he also stated that the person responsible for Donda West’s death was Kanye’s cousin, a medical professional named Stephan Scoggins, who, according to Adams, took charge of Donda West’s care following the surgery.
“Perhaps you should put your cousin’s picture on your next album. Don’t put my picture out there and claim you are about love. Love deals with the truth,” Adams wrote.
Adams stated that it was Scoggins who didn’t live up to his responsibilities as Donda West’s caregiver after the surgery. Adams went on to say that Scoggins was given specific directions to ensure a proper recovery for Kanye’s mother and that he had advised Scoggins not to leave her alone—which he did.
Adams’ letter continued:
Ms. West went to bed and at that time she said her chest was tight and her throat sore. The decedent got out of bed, but was not described as being anxious or confused. When she went back to bed, pillows were beneath her legs and a single pillow was beneath her head. (Keep in mind Scoggins was supposed to be caring for your Mom and he was told to elevate the head of her bed 30 degrees. Any nurse would know this but not your mom’s best friend or her personal assistant, who were the only people with hers) The decedent was able to tolerate lying flat. (The investigator asked this specifically...remember to ask me why?) Ms. Lee went to the kitchen for a short while and when she returned the decedent had black stuff on her face and was cold and clammy...
Adams said the black stuff on her face was a result of her not being properly elevated, which he said he had advised Scoggins to do. He also went on to say that he had dealt with Kanye’s criticism of him for long enough and to not mistake his kindness for weakness.
Of course, Kanye went to Twitter to let the whole world know he had received the letter from Adams, and that he’s working his way to forgiveness.
One has to wonder how his relationship with his cousin has been since 2007.
