Kanye West, never one to shy away from controversy, dropped a new single on the last day of 2015, getting all up in Bill Cosby’s, Nike’s and Drake’s pudding.
West, the father of 2-year-old North West, took it to the Coz on “Facts,” a track that has been burning up social media since Friday, when West’s wife, Kim Kardashian, debuted it at around 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve via Twitter.
With lyrics that refer to Kardashian’s Kimojis making “a million a minute,” West proves to be on top of popular culture. There are also references to recent news events, including Steve Harvey’s blunder at the 2015 Miss Universe pageant. “Yeah, we made a million a minute/we made a million a minute/ Do anybody feel bad for Bill Cosby?/Did he forget the names just like Steve Harvey?” he raps.
Yeesuz also got a little dig in to Drake and Future’s hit, “Jumpman,” saying, “Yeezy, Yeezy, Yeezy just jumped over Jumpman,” and competitor Nike (coincidentally, progenitor of the Michael Jordan Jumpmans), which West has dogged since dropping the brand to partner with Adidas in 2013.
As for Cosby, the embattled comedian was arraigned and released on $1 million bail last week for the alleged 2004 sexual assault of a Temple University employee.
Cosby also released a short message on Twitter on Dec. 31, saying simply, “Friends and fans, thank you.”
