Kanye: People Look at Me Like Hitler

The Associated Press reports that Kanye West took a break in the middle of his Saturday-night set headlining at the Big Chill music festival in the United Kingdom for a rant about being misunderstood and underappreciated.

"I walk through the hotel, and I walk down the street, and people look at me like I'm [expletive] insane, like I'm Hitler," he said. "One day, the light will shine through, and one day, people will understand everything I ever did."

The things West predicts everyone will understand one day most likely include the time he grabbed the microphone from Taylor Swift as she accepted the award for best female video and said Beyoncé should have won it, and the 2005 incident when he blurted out, "George Bush doesn't care about black people" during a Hurricane Katrina telethon. And, of course, a large handful of explosive tweets that have raised eyebrows.

He closed the show on a positive (and less Kanye-centric) note by paying tribute to Amy Winehouse and other performers who have passed always and appealed to the media to "lighten up on all your artists that are still here."

But really? Hitler? That’s slightly extreme, when even the harshest critics' characterizations of him would likely be closer to "crazy" or "unstable" than "evil." But from this über-dramatic rapper who is known as much for his over-the-top commentary as he is for his huge talent, we'd expect nothing less.
