New York City is known for its crazies, but 45-year-old Harry Heymann might not have realized that he was messing with Ella Emhoff the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris — and a person protected by the United States Secret Service (USSS).
According to a statement made by USSS to CNN, on Tuesday, “an individual approached two United States Secret Service vehicles parked in lower Manhattan and, without provocation, caused damage to the rear license plate area of both.”
Heymann allegedly walked up to the two parked USSS vehicles, and after confronting one of the plain-clothed agents, he attempted to remove the protective license plate covers on both cars. That’s when the cops were called.
Thankfully, Emhoff, 25, was having lunch at a nearby restaurant in the Tribeca neighborhood and was nowhere near any danger. In a video of the incident obtained by TMZ, Emhoff can be seen being rushed into one of the service vehicles after Heymann was arrested by NYPD.
Apparently, Heymann, who lives around the corner from where the incident took place, goes around the city complaining about cars with NYPD parking placards that park wherever they please instead of circling around the block.
He has also been quite vocal about his concerns on social media, according to the New York Post. Just weeks ago on X, Heymann wrote, “Apparently driving around in a ghost car is perfectly fine with @NYPD1Pct if you’ve got a fireman’s placard and blue tape on your truck.”
Heymann has no prior arrests, but he has since been charged with two low level counts of obstruction of governmental administration and criminal mischief, reports the New York Post.
The arrest comes just weeks after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. With the USSS facing heavy scrutiny about their mishandling of Trump before and after he was shot in the ear, it’s no surprise drastic measures were taken to protect the daughter of the first Second Gentleman of the United States.
