Vice President Kamala Harris addressed critics who constantly complain about President Joe Biden’s age. In an interview with SiriusXM’s Joe Madison The Black Eagle that aired this morning, Harris had something to say for those who believe Biden’s leadership has been impeded by his age (he will turn 81 later this month).
She stated:
“Let’s look at whether we have a president who has actually produced and followed through on his commitments and especially on longstanding issues that needed to be addressed. Joe Biden has done that. That’s the measure of the man, not what’s on his birth certificate in terms of his age. Here’s the thing I’ll say. Actions speak louder than words. The fact that under Joe Biden’s leadership, we capped the cost of insulin $35 a month, that is something people have been asking for years.”
She continued:
“You look at it in terms of what we have done to fund HBCUs, centers of Academic Excellence, and the almost $7 billion that we’ve put into HBCUs under Joe Biden’s leadership. So I just say to folks, listen, let’s not get distracted. As for president, it’s about has he actually produced in a way that has improved the lives of people. And on so many of these issues. Wages are up now, we’ve brought over 800,000 manufacturing jobs back to the United States. There are so many issues where we have shown incredible leadership that is having impact. And I think that’s what people care about.”
Harris also discussed the importance of banning assault weapons and how the youth will be vital in changing laws.
“And so on the issue of gun violence and the need for reasonable gun safety laws, like passing the assault weapons ban, when [young people] start voting in their numbers, that ban will be put in place because they have a lived experience in dealing with the fear that gun violence has created,” she said.
Harris doubled down on her stance regarding what Biden has done for this country, which is undeniable. Considering that the Republican Party has come to embody white nationalism and has historically gone against gun control, advocating for Democratic leadership is more important than ever right now.
